Personally, I don't like it, I prefer singers who use their natural accent... whether it's English or American.
I always thought an English person singing with an American accent sounds wrong.
There are two main reasons for it. Some styles like hip-hop originated in America... also American has longer vowels which are easier to sing.

Sometimes it simply sounds better in an American accent/ more natural. Although, there are plenty of British singers who use their British accent in their music.
