clothe = vestir a alguien
clothes (siempre plural) = ropa
clothing = ropa
Los dos son incontables (y entonces no digamos "one clothe" o "three clothes" o "one clothing" o "three clothings"), pero solo "clothing" puede ser usado para referir a algún pieza de vestido especifico. Si se quiere hablar de una prenda, se puede decir "a piece of clothing" o "two pieces of clothing" pero no "a piece of clothes" o "two pieces of clothes".
